1859 Variety 2
Comments:
Date position is C. The entire date is repunched to the
south. This
variety is included in the top 100 varieties list.
The reverse
initially develops a die crack at 5:30 from the rim and continues
through the right ribbon end and into the bottom right side of the
laurel wreath(die stage A-B). Eventually the die crack will
progress through the wreath and extend to the rim at 3:00(die stage B).
The die crack is heavy at the bottom of the wreath and is
lighter
as it exits the wreath and extends to the rim.
Perhaps a later die state of this reverse will turn up that
will
have a cud from 5:30 to 3:00.
