Reverse C Die Crack Mapping


Obverse 3 is identified by date placement at B, a small artifact at the bust point that may be a portion of a misplaced digit and a digit punch artifact located above the base of the 2 digit.
1.  Die crack from the rim at 7:00 extends diagonally upward through the top of the 1 digit and continues to the bottom of the ribbon end.

Reverse C has developed a large retained cud between 11:00 and 1:00 and the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 2:15 extends upward through the right wreath.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 9:00 extends upward through the outer edge of the left wreath and exits into the rim at 10:45.

Comments:  The above plate coin represents only the second example of Variety 1 with the Reverse C retained cud.
