Obverse 21 is observed with date placement at RH.

Reverse U develops a cud between 6:45 and 7:45 and a partial cud between 5:15 and 6:00.  Reverse U develops the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 4:15 up through the right wreath.
Rev. U.2:  The Reverse U partial cud has become more severe, obscuring the design elements of the left ribbon end and lower section of the ribbon knot.

Comments:  The reverse U cud and partial cud may have developed from a die crack between 5:15 and 7:45 from an earlier die state.  A similar scenario may have developed on reverse R of the 1862 variety 16 die pairing.

Variety 19 was first identified by this author during mid February 2016 through a coin listed in the inventory of Harlan J. Berk, LTD.  Aaron Berk of Harlan J. Berk was very kind in allowing me to use his images to illustrate Variety 19 for this web-book.

Variety 19a was first identified by this author during early September 2020.
