Reverse M.2 Die Crack Between 1:00 And 2:00

Reverse M.3 Die Crack Between 1:00 And 2:00

Reverse M.2 Die Crack From 8:30

Obverse 12 is observed with date placement at LH.

Reverse M is identified by class IV offset hub doubling to the southwest on the ribbon and the oak leaves within the right wreath.
Rev. M.2:  Reverse M develops a die crack between 1:00 and 2:00 and a smaller crack from the denticles at 8:30 to the first oak leaf.
Rev. M.3:  The die crack between 1:00 and 2:00 is now severe.

Comments:   Examination of the Reverse M.3 die crack between 1:00 and 2:00 reveals metal displacement from the working die at 1:00, with the remaining area defined by the die crack remaining intact.  As a result, the area defined by the die crack between 1:00 and 2:00 may not be termed a retained cud.  However, I expect a later die state of Reverse M to be found with a retained cud formed within the area defined by this die crack.
