Rev. AF.2 Die Crack from 12:30

Rev. AF.2 Die Crack from 8:45

Obverse 30 is observed with date position at RH and off-center clash marks that are visible in front of the neck and face of Miss Liberty.  In addition, a very light die crack connects the tops of 'STA(TE)S'.  Obverse 30 is observed with light flow lines and the presence of rim breaks.  The following die state has been observed for Obverse 30:
Obv. 30.2:  Die crack has formed from the denticles at 7:15 to the bust point.  The Die crack connecting 'STA(TE)S' has become heavier.

Reverse AF is observed with off-center clash marks that are visible to the left of the denominaton.  The following die state has been observed for Reverse AF:
Rev. AF.2:  Die crack from the denticles at 12:30 into the right side of the shield and a second die crack from the denticles at 8:45 into the wreath.

Comments:  Obverse 30 and Reverse AF have clashed with each other while one or possibly both were in a state of misalignment.

Although it appears that Obverse 30.2 has developed a greater number of rim breaks compared to Obverse 30, it cannot be determined with certainty due to wear from coin to coin.

Obverse 30 will later later return to service paired with Reverse AN during the Variety 38 Die Pairing.

Plate Coin:  D. Poliquin Collection, XF45
