Clash Marks Through The C Of CENT

Clash Marks To The Right Of The Denomination

Obverse 17 is observed with date placement at B and has acquired clash marks from a clashing event with Reverse T.  Obverse 17 has developed very heavy die flow lines and the following die cracks:
1.  Heavy bisecting die crack between 1:00 and 7:00.
2.  Light die crack from the denticles at 7:45 connecting IT of UNITED.
3.  Light die crack from the denticles at 10:15 connecting TE of STATES.

Reverse T is rotated 6 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die state as Obverse 17, with the advancement of very heavy die flow lines.  Reverse T has acquired clash marks above the O of ONE, between NE of ONE, through the C of CENT and to the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 17.

Comments:   Reverse T has experienced two separate clashing events, which occurred at different working die rotation.

The Obverse 17 bisecting die crack represents an exciting and popular die state.  Whenever available during auction, examples of Variety 11 realize strong prices due to collector demand.

Plate coin:  Keith Bock Collection, XF40
