Variety 19
Obverse 27 is observed with date placement at B.
Reverse
AAC is rotated 69 degrees counter clockwise. Reverse AAC is observed with clash marks to the right of the denomination.
Comments: Variety 19 is
yet another die pairing from 1864 exhibiting working die rotation.
Additional examples of variety 19 will be needed to determine if
the die rotation was static or dynamic. Until more examples of
variety 19 are discovered and reverse rotation measured, variety 19 is
tentatively URS-7 in terms of rarity.
Variety 19 was first identified by this author during mid September 2015.
