Die Crack From 11:00

Clash Marks Located Right Of Denomination


Obverse 55 is observed with date placement at LE.  Obverse 55 has acquired clash marks from clashing events with Reverse AAAN.

Reverse AAAN is rotated 80 degrees counter clockwise.  Reverse AAAN has acquired clash marks located to the right of the denomination from clashing events with Obverse 55 and has developed the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 11:00 extends downward into the top of the left wreath.

Comments:  During its service, Variety 39 experienced dynamic die rotation of which is evidenced by clashing events occurring at varying degrees of working die rotation and the 80 degree rotation measured from the above plate coin that greatly exceeds the die rotation that was evident during the Variety 39 clashing events.

Variety 39 was first identified by Paul Nomes, who submitted the above plate coin during late June 2021 for inclusion in this book based on the die rotation of Variety 39.
