Obverse 5 exhibits die polish lines and is observed with date placement
at LE.
Type I Reverse C similarly exhibits die polish lines and has acquired a
clash mark through the C of CENT. Type I Reverse C develops
the following die crack:
1. Moderately heavy die crack from the denticles at 3:15
downward through the two lower arrowheads and ribbon end to the rim at
5:00.
Comments: Rick
Snow of Eagle Eye Rare Coins was generous in granting me permission to
use his mages to illustrate Variety 3 for this book.
The
Reverse C die crack is similar in location as those that develop on
several other type I reverses, which subsequently develop breaks in the
area defined by the cracks. As a result, Variety 3 was included
in this book with this author's anticipation of Reverse C also
developing a break.
