Reverse I Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 11 is identified by date placement at LH, hub doubling of 'LI(BERTY)' and die damage by the designer's initial.  Obverse 11 has acquired clash marks.

Type I Reverse I exhibits Class III Hub Doubling of O(N)E and C(EN)T and has developed a partial cud between 2:45 and 4:00.  Type I Reverse I has acquired clash marks and developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the partial cud at 3:00 extends upward along the outer edge of the right wreath.
2.  Die crack from the bottom of the partial cud extends through the middle and lower arrowheads, right ribbon end, ribbon knot and olive leaves.

Comments:   Type I Reverse Variety 9 was first identified 'The Cud Book' Supplement 37, with a reference number of IC-1870-7R Ret.

Although described as a retained cud, I suspec that the Reverse I section between 2:45 and 4:00 has not completely separated from the working die body and should be described as a partial cud.

The Obverse 11 die damage has acquired the moniker 'Pick-Axe' due to its strong resemblance of a pick-axe.

Reverse I was initially hubbed with a Type I reverse working hub and subsequently hubbed with a Type II reverse working hub. The resulting doubling of Reverse I from being hubbed with both a Type I and Type II reverse hub is classified as Class III Desgn Hub Doubling. Since Reverse I was initially hubbed with a Type I reverse hub, Reverse I is correctly identified as a Type I reverse.
