Die File Marks above Feathers 2 and 6 |
Die Rust and Die Scratch |
Obverse 11 is observed with date placement at B. Obverse 11
has heavy die file marks above feathers 2 and 6. In addition,
there is a moderately long die scratch on the cheek and raised areas on
the neck/face area due to corrosion from die rust.
Reverse J is perfect.
Comments: The die file marks of obverse 11 may have been the result of the mint addressing the rusted state of the working die.
Rick Snow was very kind in allowing me to use his images to illustrate variety 10 for this book.
