Reverse Diagnostics

Retained Cud between 3:15 and 4:30

Die Crack 2:15 to Cud

Obverse 6 is observed with date placement at C.

Reverse D has developed a retained cud between 3:15 and 4:30.  The following die crack is observed for obverse D:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 2:15 to the retained cud.

Comments:  The retained cud of variety 2 is similar in location to that of the reverse retained cud of the 1875 variety 1 die pairing.

Reverse rotation of 5 degrees clockwise has been observed during photographic editing.  However, I will refrain from declaring an exact die rotation until I can acquire an example to measure.

Variety 2 was first seen by this author through a coin listed for sale by Old World Coin, who were gracious enough to allow me to use their images for inclusion in this web book.
