1875 Variety 4

Obverse 7

Reverse E

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Repunched 18 and 5 to the West

Obverse 7 is identified by wide repunching to the west on the 18 and 5 digits of the date, with date placement at B.  Obverse 7 has acquired clash marks between feathers 5 through 9 from a clashing event with Reverse E.

Reverse E is observed with clash marks through the C of CENT and to the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 7.

Comments:  The Obverse 7 repunching is wide to the west and most likely corrected due to the initial digit punch impression intersecting the denticles.

Rick Snow of Eagle Eye Rare Coins was very kind in allowing me to use his images to illustrate Variety 4 for this book.
