The second usage of Obverse 3.  Obverse 3 is identified by date placement at RE and localized die rust located within the second feather, in the hair between the first hair curl and ear as well as on the chin of Miss Liberty.  Obverse 3 has now acquired clash marks from a clashing event with Reverse A and has developed light die cracking.

The third usage of Reverse A.  Reverse A is rotated 8 degrees counter clockwise and is identified by a die chip located on the upper section of the diagonal of CE(N)T.  Reverse A is observed with die lines within the vertical shield bars and around the ribbon bow.  Reverse A has now acquired clash marks from a clashing event with Obverse 3 and has developed die cracking.

Comments:  Variety 4 represents the second usage of Obverse 3 and the third usage of Reverse A, with both previously in service during the 1876 Proof 3 Die Pairing.

The above plate coin was submitted by David Killough during mid May 2021 for inclusion in this book based on the raised artifact on the chin of Miss Liberty and reverse die cracking.  Upon examination of David's coin, I was able to identify his coin as a subsequent usage of Obverse 3 and Reverse A.

The die cracking of Variety 4 is light, with the exception of the Reverse A.2 die crack between 11:00 and 1:00.
