Obverse 9 is identified by date placement at RH, die chip in the headband below the eighth feather and date repunching that features an initial date impression to the southwest within the upper loop of the 8. Obverse 9 has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse I.

Reverse I has acquired clash marks through the C of CENT, above and to the left of the O of ONE and to the rigth of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 9.  Reverse I has developed the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 3:00 downward through the right wreath to the middle arrowhead.

Comments:  Obverse 9 features what appears to be an additional initial date impression below the base of the 1; however, the artifact below the base of the 1 was part of the digit punch matrix and is seen on many 1879 obverses.
