Clash Marks To The Right Of The Denomination

Obverse 22 is identified by date placement at B; the bases of two misplaced 8 digits between the ribbon and first hair curl and between the first and second hair curls; repunched date that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif and to the east from the right base of the 1 and to the south within the upper loop of the first 8.

Reverse V is in a similar die state as Obverse 22, with the advancement of moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines.  Reverse V acquires clash marks through the C of CENT and to the right of the denomination and develops the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack connecting the lower and middle arrowheads and continuing upward along the outside edge of the right wreath.  Additional light die cracking continues upward to the top of the right wreath beyond what the Reverse V die crack mapping indicates.  This light die cracking may be associated with the die crack that connects the lower and middle arrowheads, but accurate mapping is difficult due to the die state.
2.  Die crack from the denticles at 5:15 through the base of the ribbon knot and extending through the olive leaves.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 8:30 upward through the left wreath.

Comments:  Obverse 22 is characterized by minor date repunching and misplaced digits in the portrait.  The date repunching, which was previously unidentified prior to this publication, features initial date impressons that indicate an initial date impression that was slightly rotated counter clockwise with respect to the final date placement.  The misplaced 8 digits between the ribbon, first hair curl and second hair curl are the last two 8 digits of an initial date impresson that was far to the northwest with respect to the final date placement.
