Obverse 38 is identified by date placement at B, heavy die line in the the lower loop of the third 8 and date repunching that features an initial date impression to the southwest within the upper loop of the last 8. Obverse 38 has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AL.  Obverse 38 develops the following die cracks:
1.  Light die crack from the denticles at 1:00 connecting the tops of 'OF AMERICA'.
2.  Light die crack from the denticles at 3:00 connecting with the die crack above.
3.  Light die crack connecting the tops of 'NIT' of UNITED.
4.  Light die crack from 9:45 connecting the tops of ED of UNITED.
5.  Light die crack from die crack above at 9:45 connecting the tops of 'STAT' of STATES.

Reverse AL has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 38.  Reverse AL develops the following die cracks:
1.  Light to Moderately heavy die crack from the denticles at 7:00 upward through the left wreath to the denticles at 10:45.
2.  Light die crack from the denticles at 9:15 into the die crack above.
3.  Light die crack from the denticles at 11:00 into the left side of the shield.

Comments:  Variety 36 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid May 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 38 date repunching.
