Clash Marks To The Right Of Denomination


Obverse 10 is identified by date placement at RH with date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif of the 1, to the south within the upper and lower loops of the 8, to the south within the upper loop and lower loops of the 9 and to the south within the 0.  Obverse 10 has developed moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines and has acquired clash marks between feathers 5 through 8 from a clashing event with Reverse J.

Reverse J was struck from misaligned working dies and is in a similar die state as Obverse 10, with the advancement of moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines.  Reverse J has acquired clash marks to the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 10.

Comments:  Variety 8 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late July 2017 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 10 date repunching.
