Obverse 5 is identified by date repunching within the lower loops of
the 895, with date placement at RH. Obverse 5 has developed light
to moderately heavy die flow lines.
Reverse
D is in a similar die state as Obverse 5, with the advancement of light to moderately heavy die flow lines.
Comments: Obverse 5 and Reverse D were initially in service striking proof cents during the Proof 5 die pairing.
Ed Nathanson was extremely gracious in allowing me to use his images to illustrate Variety 8 for this book.
