Obverse 36 is identified by date placement at RE, with date repunching
that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif of
the 1, to the east within both loops of the 8, to the east within the
lower loop of the 9; to the northeast above the tip of the flag, to the
east above the lower loop, to the east of the ball and northeast within
the lower loop of the 5. Obverse 36 has acquired a clash mark in
front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AI.
Reverse
AI has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 36.
Comments: Obverse 36 is
the product of multiple date impressions. One date impression was
to the east and at a negligle counter clockwise rotation with respect
to the final date impression. The other date impressions, which
number at least two, were at the northeast and at varying degrees
clockwise with respect to the final date impression.
Variety 33
was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate
coin during late July 2016 for inclusion in this book based on the
Obverse 36 date repunching.
