Die Crack From 7:30

Partial Cud Between 3:30 and 5:00

Reverse AS.2 Retained Cud

Obverse 44 is observed with date placement at LH and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AS.

Reverse AS has acquired clash marks to the right of the denomination and through (C)ENT from a clashing event with Obverse 44.  Reverse AS has developed a partial cud between 3:30 and 5:00 and the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 7:30 upward along the lower edge of the second olive leaf.
Rev. AS.2:  Reverse AS has now developed a retained cud between 3:30 and 5:00.

Comments:  Variety 39a was first brought to my attention during late November 2015 by Mike Bruggeman.  Mike was very kind in allowing me to use his images to illustrate Variety 39a for this book.

During mid September 2019, Rick DeSanctis identified an example of Variety 39 with a partial cud between 3:30 and 5:00.  Rick's coin represents the immediate incremental die state prior to the AS.2 retained cud formation.
