Obverse 46 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching
that features initial date impressions to the south below the flag and
base of the 1; to the south below the left side of the upper loop and
base of the first 8; to the north within the upper loop of the 9;
to the north within both loops of the final 8. Obverse 46 is
observed with scattered die polish lines.
Reverse AU is rotated 6 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die state
as Obverse 46, with the presence of scattered die polish lines. Reverse AU was struck from misaligned working dies.
Comments:
Variety 41 was first identified by David Killough, who
submitted
the above plate coin during mid January 2018 for inclusion in this book
based on the Obverse 46 date repunching.
