Obverse 53 is identified by date placement at LE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif and base of the 1 as well as the base of the first 8.  Obverse 53 has developed moderately heavy die flow lines and has acquired clash marks in front of the eye, above the first three feathers and between feathers 5 through 9 from a clashing event with Reverse AAB.

Reverse AAB is in a similar die state as Obverse 53, with the advancement of moderately heavy die flow lines.  Reverse AAB has acquired clash marks throught the C of CENT, above the O of ONE and to the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 53.

Comments:  Variety 48 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late July 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 53 date repunching.
