Reverse AAD.2 Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 55 is identified by date placement at LH and the tops of misplaced digits in the denticles below and to the right of the 198 and below the final 8 of the date.
Obv. 55.2:  Obverse 55 has developed three rim breaks between 11:45 and 12:45.

Reverse AAD is observed with bulging located at the lower right of C(E)NT and artifacts among the vertical shield bars.
Rev. AAD.2:  Reverse AAD has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack segment along the outer edge of the right wreath between 2:30 and 4:00.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 10:00 extends downward through the outer edge of the left wreath to the middle olive leaf.

Comments:  Obverse 55 has received two digit punch impressions into the denticles below the date.  The first is located far to the southwest with a rotation of 5 degrees clockwise with respect to the final date placement.  The second is located slightly southeast with respect to the final date placement.

During mid November 2018, David Killough submitted the above plate coin based on the misplaced digits of Obverse 55.  Upon examination of David's coin, I was able to determine that his coin was struck from a previously identified die pairing that was first identified by Kevin Flynn.  However, Flynn's discovery outlined only the misplaced digits below and to the right of the 1 and first 8.  Close examination of David's coin revealed additional misplaced digits below and to the right of the 9 and below the final 8 as well as the revelation that Obverse 55 was impressed with two separate and overlapping digit punch impressions into the denticles.

Variety 50a was first identified by this author during late November 2022.
