Reverse V.2 Retained Cud Between 2:15 and 3:45

Obverse 23 is observed with date placement at RH.  Obverse 23 has acquired a clash mark in front of the face of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse V and has developed moderately heavy die flow lines.

Reverse V is in a similar die state as Obverse 23, with the advancement of moderately heavy die flow lines.  Reverse V has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 23 and has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Moderately heavy die crack between 2:15 and 3:45.
2.  Die crack from 8:00 into the olive leaves.
Rev. W.2:  Reverse V has now developed a retained cud between 2:15 and 3:45.

Comments:  Variety 23a was first identified by this author during early February 2016.  Variety 20 was subsequently acquired by this author during late October 2017 from a sale which erroneously attributed the coin as Variety 20a.  The Reverse V die crack appears to a retained cud at first glance with the southern section, as well as some design elements, rasied above the field.  However, close examination reveals the northern section of the die crack still at field level.
