Die Crack From Heavy Die Crack

Obverse 46 is identified by date placement at LH, misplaced 906 digits in the denticles below the primary digits of the date and a repunched date that features initial date impressions to the south within the upper loop and upper right corner of the lower loop of the 9.

Reverse AV is rotated 9 degrees clockwise and develops the following die cracks:
1.  Light die crack from the rim at 3:15 downward through the right wreath.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 7:30 through the olive leaves.
3.  Heavy die crack from the rim at 9:00 to the rim at 10:00.
4.  Light die crack from die crack #3 upward through the wreath.

Comments:  Variety 47 was initially identified in Rick Snow's attribution guide with only the 0 in the denticles described.  However, close examination reveals an additional misplaced 9 digit to the left of the 0 and a misplaced 6 to the right of the 0.  The misplaced 906 digits in the denticles were the result of an initial date impression that was far to the southwest with respect to the final date placement.

I suspect Variety 47 as a die paring is scarce (URS-8), based on the early die cracking of Reverse AV and the absence of any discernible die flow lines.  Variety 47, with the Reverse AV die cracking illustrated above, is very scarce (URS-7).

The Reverse AV die cracking between 9:00 and 10:00 is severe and exhibits a bi-level field at the northern section of the die crack, which includes rim, field and a portion of the wreath.  Based on the severity of this die crack, I fully expect a later die state of Reverse AV that features a break between 9:00 and 10:00.

Obverse 46 will return to service paired with Reverse AAAY during the 1906 Variety 102 Die Pairing.
