Obverse 36 Die Crack Mapping

Date Position

Repunched 90

Obverse 36 is identified by date placement at RH with date repunching that features initial date impressions to the southeast within the lower loop of the 9 and to the north within the 0.  Obverse 36 has developed moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines.  Obverse 36 develops the following die crack:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 11:00 downward through STAT of STATES and TED of UNITED.

Reverse AJ is in a similar die state as Obverse 36, with the advancement of moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines.

Comments:  The initial date impressions within the lower loop of the 9 are most likely from the ball and outer bottom edge of the upper loop of the 9 positioned southeast with respect to the final date impression. This position of the initial date impressions is a result of the digit punch being both shifted to the southeast as well as rotated counter clockwsise with respect to the final date impression.

Variety 34 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the abvoe plate coin for inclusion in this book based on the date repunching of Obverse 36.
