Repunched 0 and 7 (Click Image To Enlarge)

Obverse 48 is identified by date placement at RE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the base of the 1; to the south below the upper loop, to the east of the ball and to the south below the base of the 9; to the west of the 0; to the southwest below the base of the 7.

Reverse AV has yet to be observed with any die markers.

Comments:  Obverse 48 features an artifact within the lower loop of the 9, which is located to the northeaast of the initial date impression identified above, that may be an additional date impression and is evident on all examples of Obverse 48.  I refrained from identifyng this artifact as a genuine initial date impression, since I could not confirm if it was either the result of a digit punch impression or injury to the Obverse 48 Working Die.

Plate Coin:  Mark Clewell Collection, ANACS MS63BN
