Obverse 60 is identified by date placement at RH and date repunching
that features initial date impressions to the west and south within the lower
loop of the 9; to the southeast and west within the 0; to the east
at the upper right side of the 7. Obverse 60 has developed
moderately heavy die flow lines and the following die crack:
1. Light die crack connecting the tops of 'OF AMERICA'.
Reverse AAH is in a similar die state as Obverse 60, with the advancement of moderately heavy die flow lines.
Comments: Obverse 60 was
most likely impressed with two separate initial date impressions prior
to receiving the final date placement, since the two initial date
impressons within the lower loop of the 9 appear to be the result of
separate digit punch impression events. Similarly, the initial
date impressions within the 0 also support the the theory of two
separate initial date impressions prior to the final date placement.
The
initial date impression located at the bottom within the 0 was
impressed very shallowly into the working die and may be overlooked
during attribution of circulated examples.
