1907 Variety 72

Obverse 74

Reverse AAU

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Possible Misplaced Digits

Clash Mark In Front Of Eye

Obverse 74 is identified by date placement at RH and possible two sets of misplaced digits in the denticles below the primary 1 of the date.  Obverse 74 has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty.

Reverse AAU has yet to be observed with any die markers.

Comments:  In regard to the Obverse 74 possible misplaced digits, it is not clear what digit(s) created these impressions.  It should be noted that these impressions could have been created by the top of a 1 digit at varying degrees of rotation with respect to the final date placement.  If this is the case, then there could be as many as 5 impressions of the top of a 1 digit in the denticles below the primary 1 of the date.

Variety 72 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid May 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the possible misplaced digits of Obverse 74.
