Obverse 83 is identified by date placement at LH and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the southwest at the upper right corner within the lower loop of the 9 and to the southwest within the 0. Obverse 83 has developed light die flow lines and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AAAD.

Reverse AAAD is in a similar die state as Obverse 83, with the advancement of light die flow lines.  Reverse AAAD has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 83. Reverse AAAD had developed the following die cracks:
1.  Light die crack from the denticles at 2:30 downward into the right wreath.
2.  Modetately heavy die crack between 6:00 and 8:30.
3.  Die crack from the denticles at 9:00 upward through the left wreath to the denticles at 11:30.

Comments:  Variety 81 is characterized by a minor repunched date obverse and a cracked reverse, with the most prominent die crack extending between 6:00 and 8:30.

Variety 81 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid November 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the die cracking of Reverse AAAD.
