Obverse 97 is identified by date placement at center of denticle and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the serif of the 1 digit; to the northwest within the lower loop of the 9 digit; to the northwest within the 0 digit; to the northwest above the upper right of the 7 digit.  Obverse 97 has acquired clash marks from a clashing event with Reverse AAAT.

Reverse AAAT has acquired clash marks from a clashing event with Obverse 97.

Comments:  Obverse 97 exhibits raised field areas within the lower loop of the 9 digit and within the lower section of the 9 digit.  I suspect these raised areas are the result of the Mint attempting to efface the initial date impressions located in these areas from the working die.

Variety 97 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late September 2025 for inclusion in this book based on the date repunching of Obverse 97.
