Reverse AAJ Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 58 is observed with date placement at RH and repaired E of STATES.  Obverse 58 has developed light to moderately heavy die flow lines.

Reverse AAJ is rotated 15 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die state as obverse 58, with the advancement of light to moderately heavy die flow lines.  Reverse AAJ develops the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim through the bottom of the wreath.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 5:30 through the olive leaves to the rim at 7:30.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 8:45 upward through the wreath to a point at 9:30.
4.  Die crack from the rim at 11:00 downward through the wreath to a point at 9:30.

Comments:  Variety 60 is yet another example of an extensively cracked reverse paired with an unscathed obverse.

Variety 60 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during early October 2016 for inclusion in this book based on the die cracking of reverse AAJ.

Plate coin:  David Killough Collection, AU58
