Reverse AAN Die Crack Mapping

Obverse 38 is identified by date placement at LE, a digit punch artifact located above the ball of the 5 and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the west within the loops of the 8 and to the south below the flag of the 5.

The second usage of Reverse AAN.  Reverse AAN is identified by a die line located below the left base of the shield.  Reverse AAN is rotated 8 degrees counter clockwise, has acquired three sets of clash marks from a clashing event from its previous service, has developed die subsidence at 6:15 and has developed the following die cracking from its previous service:
1.  Radial die crack from the rim at 2:30 extends into the right wreath.
2.  Radial die crack from the rim at 4:30 extends through the lowest arrowhead and into the middle arrow shaft.
3.  Radial die crack from the rim at 7:15 extends upward through the lowest olive leaf.
4.  Radial die crack from the rim at 11:45 extends downward through the left side of the horizontal shield bars.

Comments:  Variety 45 represents the second usage of Reverse AAN, which was previously in service paired with Obverse 37 during the 1865 Fancy 5 Variety 44 Die Pairing.
