Rev I.2 Retained Cud Between 9:30 and 10:30


Obverse 9 is identified by date placement at C, misplaced 8 in the denticles below and to the right of the primary 8 of the date and repunched date that features initial date impressions to the west within the upper loop of the 8, top left of the 7 and within the upper loop of the 2.  Obverse 9 has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Light die crack connecting the tops of 'UN(ITED)'.
2.  Light die crack connecting the tops of '(STATE)S'.

Type II Reverse I has developed the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 8:00 throught the olive leaves to the left ribbon end.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 10:30 downward through the outside edge of the left wreath.
Type II Rev. I.2:  Reverse I has now developed a retained cud between 9:30 and 10:30.

Comments:  The Obverse 9 misplaced digit is the result of an initial digit punch impression located far to the southeast with respect to the final date placement.

Variety 8 was first identified by this author during early July 2016.  Variety 8a was first identified by this author during early March 2019.
