Obverse 29 is identified by date placement located at right half of
denticle and date repunching that features initial date impressions to
the southwest within both loops of the first 8 digit. An
artifact is located within the bottom of the lower loop of the first 8
digit.
Reverse AB is rotated 10 degrees clockwise and has developed a crack between 11:00 and 1:00.
Comments: Variety
27 was
first identified by John Grimmer, who submitted the above plate coin
during late May 2026 based on the die crack of Reverse AB.
Upon examination of John's coin, I was able to identify minor
date repunching as well as the artifact within the lower loop of the
first 8 digit.
In
regard to the artifact mentioned above, I do not suspect this is an
additional initial date impression; though my macro photography makes a
compelling argument that the artifact is indeed an initial date
impression. I came to my conclusion when examining the artifact
under a stereo microscope and found the artifact did not resemble a
digit impression.
