Obverse 7

Reverse F

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Possible Misplaced Digit

Obverse 7 is identified by a possible misplaced digit in the denticles below the second 8 of the date, with date placement at LH.

Reverse F is rotated 5 degrees counter clockwise.

Comments:  During late October 2016, Ed Nathanson submitted the above plate coin for inclusion in this book based on the possible misplaced digit of obverse 7.  Upon inspection of the coin, I determined the coin wa struck from a previously identified die pairing that was discovered by Bill Van Note.  Although I did not find any satisfactory results from performing digit punch overlays, the anomaly in the denticles may have occurred from a single digit impession.  Without any definitive evidence to indicate an actual digit impression, the obverse 7 denticle anomaly must be attributed as a possible misplaced digit.

Plate Coin:  Ed Nathanson, XF40
