Reverse F Die Crack Mapping

Die Crack from 3:30

Die Crack from 5:00 into the Ribbon End

Die Crack from 7:30 into the Middle Olive Leaf

Obverse 6 is identified by the top of a misplaced 5 in the denticles below the second 8 of the date, with date placement at RH.

Reverse F develops the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the denticles at 3:30 upward and downward through the right wreath.  A small die break develop within the right wreath at 3:00.
2.  Die crack from the denticles at 5:00 into the ribbon end.
3.  Die crack from the denticles at 7:30 that traverses the olive leaves and possibly into the bottom of the ribbon knot.

Comments:  During late October 2016, Ed Nathanson submitted the above plate coin for inclusion in this book based on the misplaced digit of obverse 6.  Careful examination and a subsequent digit punch overlay reveal the top of the flag of a 5 digit in the denticles below the second 8.  The placement of the 5 in the denticles is consistent with an initial digit punch impression that was far to the southwest in comparison to the primary date position.

Plate coin:  Ed Nathanson, VF30
