Date Position

Die Roughness Within Lower Loop Of The 9

Rim Break Between 6:00 and 6:30

Clash Mark In Front Of Eye

Obverse 27 is observed with date placement at LH and die roughness within the lower loop of the 9.  Obverse 27 has developed heavy die flow lines, a rim break between 6:00 and 6:30 and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty.

Reverse AA is in a similar die state as Obverse 27, with the advancement of heavy die flow lines.

Comments:  Earlier die states of Obverse 27 prior to the formation of the rim break could possibly be identified by the date placement and die roughness within the lower loop of the 9, though an earlier die state of Variety 27 will be necessary to confirm the presence of the die roughness.

Variety 25 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during mid November 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 27 rim break.
