1899 Variety 21
Obverse 25 is identified by repunching to the north on the 89, with
date placement at LH. The 1 digit is observed with two die chips,
with the northern most chip less prominent than the southern one.
Obverse 25 is in an extended die state with heavy die flow lines
visible.
Reverse Y is in a similar die state as obverse 25 with the development of heavy die flow lines.
Comments: The bottom loop
of the last 9 is filled, with no obvious repunching visible. It
may be a possibility that repunching to the north was evident in this
locaton as well, but was heavily polished to remove the initial punch
artifacts.
The die break at the tip of the eighth feather is a product of die deterioration and is common for 1899 cents.
