Reverse AW.2 Clash Mark Through The C Of CENT

Obverse 49 is identified by date placement at C and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the east within both lower loops of the 9 digits of the date.  Obverse 49 has developed heavy die flow lines.
Obv. 49.2:  Obverse 49 now has developed a small break atop the eighth feather and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AW.

Reverse AW is in a similar die state as Obverse 49, with the advancement of heavy die flow lines.
Rev. AW.2:  Reverse AW has acquired a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 49.

Comments:  The Variety 49a die state is interesting in regard to the clashing event occurring at a much later die state than normally observed from other die pairings.  The eighth feather die break is common, especially for this year.

Variety 45 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late July 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 49 date repunching.
