Rim Breaks Between 9:30 and 11:00


Obverse 38 is identified by date placement at B and date repunching that features an initial date impression to the south within the upper loop of the 9.  Obverse 38 has developed moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines and has acquired a light clash mark in front of the eye of Miss Liberty from a clashing event with Reverse AL.  Obverse 38 was struck from misaligned working dies and has developed rim breaks between 9:30 and 11:00.

Reverse AL is rotated 5 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die state as Obverse 38, with the advancement of moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines.  Reverse AL has acquired a light clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 38.  Reverse AL was struck from misaligned working dies.

Comments:  Variety 35 was first identified by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late July 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the Obverse 38 date repunching.
