1902 Variety 24

Obverse 2.2

Reverse A.2

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Misplaced Digit In The Denticles

Obverse 2 is identified by date placement at RH and a section of a misplaced digit in the denticles between the 0 and 2 of the date.

Reverse A has yet to be observed with any die markers.

Comments:  Variety 24 represents the second usage of Obverse 2 and Reverse A.  Obverse 2 and Reverse A were initially in service striking proof cents during the Proof 2 Die Pairing and now are employed striking business cents.

Variety 24 was first brought to my attention by David Killough, who submitted the above plate coin during late August 2019 for inclusion in this book based on the misplaced digit of Obverse 2.
