Retained Cud Between 3:00 and 4:00

Die Crack from 7:30

Obverse 2 is identified by repunching on the 1906 to the South and to the North, with date placement at LH.

Reverse B is rotated 7 degrees clockwise and develops a retained cud between 3:00 and 4:00.  Reverse B is observed with the following die crack:
1.  Radial die crack from the rim at 7:30 into the second olive leaf.

Comments:  The repunching of obverse 2 is quite minor, with the exception of the repunching seen to the north on the base of the 1 digit.  With a large number of repunched dates found for the 1906 year, repunching on various dates will look similar.  Therefore, closeup photography of the date repunching  becomes a paramount tool for the user of this web book to differentiate die pairings.

The reverse B die cracking and retained cud appear to have occurred early during production, since a close examination reveals no extended die state.

Obverse 2 will later be in service paired with Reverse AAAP during the 1906 Variety 93 Die Pairing.

Variety 1 was first identified by this author during early September 2015.

Plate Coin:  D. Poliquin Collection, AU55
