1906 Variety 8

Obverse 9

Reverse I

Obverse Diagnostics

Date Position

Repunched 19 to the North

Repunched 06 to the North and South

Obverse 9 is identified by date placement at C and repunching to the north on the 906, with additional repunching to the south on the 06.

Reverse I is perfect.

Comments:  The obverse 9 date repunching is an interesting exhibition of multiple repunching.  Close examination of the repunching reveals the 9 triply repunched to the north within the upper loop and the 0 triply repunched below the base.  The wide repunching below the base of the 6 allows quick attribution at arm's length.

Plate Coin:  D. Poliquin Collection, MS63RB
