Die Rust

Obverse 27 is observed with date placement at LE and light die rust.  Obverse 27 has developed light to moderate die flow lines.

Reverse AA is observed with moderate die rust.  Reverse AA develops a retained cud between 9:00 and 10:00.

Comments:  Although both obverse 27 and reverse AA are both products of rusted working dies, reverse AA is the more severely rusted of the two.  While obverse 27 exhibits small areas of die rust primarily under the letters of TED of UNITED and the date, the reverse AA die rust is substantially more extensive.

Variety 26 was first identified by this author during late April 2016.

Plate coin:  Keith Bock Collection, XF40
