features initial date impressions to the south below the serif of the 1

Reverse B. Obverse 2 has developed the following die cracks:

4 of the date. Obv. 2.2:

Comments: Variety
1 was initially in
service striking copper nickel cents during the 1864 Copper Nickel Variety 1
Die Pairing.
During
mid July 2016, this author contacted Craig McClain in regards to
submitting his Snow 10c for imaging and inclusion within this book.
Upon receipt of the coin and subsequent examination, I had
discovered that Craig's coin was actually a later die state of the 1864
Bronze Variety 1 Die Pairing (Snow 1). Craig's coin is listed
below and is assigned Variety 1b in order to capture the bisecting die
crack from the Obverse 2.3 die state.
During late January 2020, Paul Nomes submitted an example of Variety 1
with the Obverse 2 die crack not yet extending to 11:00.
Paul's coin represents an interim die state of Variety 1 and
has been assigned Variety 1a, in order to capture the Obverse 2.2 die
crack.
