Bronze Variety 40
Obverse 56 is observed with date placement at LH.
Reverse AAAO is rotated 82 degrees clockwise.
Comments:
The Obverse 56 date position is very similar to that of Obverse 55 from the 1864 Bronze Variety 39 Die Pairing.
The difference between Obverse 55 and Obverse 56 is a slight date
placement difference and the use of different digit punches, which is
identified by the appearance of the 1 digits.
Variety 40 was first identified by Paul Nomes, who submitted the above
plate coin during late June 2021 for inclusion in this book based on
the die rotation of Variety 40.
