Obverse 16 is observed with date placement at LH. Obverse 16 will
develop a vertical die crack that begins from 6:00 and will continue
through the date and portrait to 12:00. The following describe in
order, the die states of obverse 16: Obv.
16.2: Obverse 16 exhibits heavy die clashes in front of portrait,
below portrait and amongst feathers 7, 8, and 9. In additon, a
die crack develops from the denticles at 6:00 to the bottom of the
portrait. Obv. 16.3: The aforementioned crack now extends from above the ear to the denticles at 12:00. Obv.
16.4: The crack now extends across the portrait, creating a
vertical die crack from 6:00 to 12:00. Die breaks occcur within
the die crack at the center of the portait
Reverse AM is rotated 11 degrees clockwise, as measured on the
plate coin. Reverse AM initially has no die markers, but will
acquire clash marks
and die cracks in subsequent die states. The following describe
in
order, the die states of reverse AM: Rev. AM.2: Reverse AM devops clash marks while in a 11 degree clockwise rotated state. Rev. AM.3: Die crack from the denticles at 7:30 continues through the wreath and terminates at 5:00 in the denticles Rev. AM.4: Die crack from 2:30 into the wreath.
Comments:
Rick Snow mentions the reverse was rotated 5
degrees to the righ of reverse AM. Since I measured 11 degrees, I
will refrain from declaring the entire die marriage was rotated 11
degrees until I may measure previous and subsequent die states of
variety 16.
