Obverse 24 is observed with date placement at LE and may be identified by a small die chip on the cheek of Miss Liberty.  Obverse 24 is observed with heavy die polishing between the ear and hair curl and light die flow lines.

During this second die pairing, reverse Z is now rotated 10 degrees clockwise and develops a second set of clash marks from obverse 24 during a state of working die rotation of 10 degrees.  Reverse Z is observed with light die flow lines and the following die cracks:
1.  Die crack from the rim at 12:30 into the right side of the shield and into the right wreath.
2.  Die crack from the rim at 3:30 down into the right wreath.
3.  Die crack from the rim at 4:30 into the lowest arrowhead.
4.  Die crack from the rim at 7:00 into the arrow quill.

Comments:  Reverse Z was initially in service paired with obverse 5 during the 1864 With L variety 3 die pairing.

Other than the development of additional clash marks, reverse Z remains essentially in the same die state as it did during its previous die pairing.  In additon, it should be noted that the same strike doubling seen during the previous assignment of reverse Z is evident once again.

Variety 24 was first identified by this author during mid June 2015.
